Access FAQ

Q1: Should I keep my data in Access or Excel?

Ans: The simple rule is : Data that requires only mathematical manipulation should be kept in Excel, while data that needs to be logically manipulated should be kept in Access. Data that requires complex logical reports should be kept in Access.

Q2: Is there a good tutorial on Access?

Ans: About.com has an excellent tutorial (new window).

Q3: Can my Access tables use the Autonumber as a primary key?

Ans: We recommend designing tables with their own primary keys and not using the autonumber as the primary key. See Database Design.

Q4:
We used Autonumber and deleted some rows. Now, the rows have missing numbers. What is the easiest way to renumber the entire table with no gaps?
